National Audio Systems welcomes three new team members

AUSTRALIA: National Audio Systems has announced three new appointments in consultant and sales roles. Leading the trio of announcements is the news that Glenn Helmot has been appointed as consultant liaison, a brand new role at NAS. Meanwhile, David Holmes now serves as NSW/ACT sales representative, and Christopher Laurie has taken an internal sales position at the distributor’s Melbourne office.

In his new role, Mr Helmot will work to build ongoing relationships with consultants, architects and specifiers throughout Australia and New Zealand, with a main aim to increase the exposure of NAS products via these networks.

NAS states that Mr Helmot brings ‘significant market experience and contacts’ to his new position, attained through many years of working within the industry in both freelance and employed positions with companies such as Jands, where he held a similar role.

‘I am going into my 34th year working professionally in our industry,’ said Mr Helmot. ‘In that time I have spent many years as a touring FOH engineer for artists, and as a systems engineer for production rental companies. My experience also includes mixing live broadcast audio for special television events and working as an applications engineer with several major loudspeaker, DSP and console manufacturers. In the last 10 years or so I have also been involved with commercial audio installation projects in design and engineering roles.’

The consultant liaison position was created to provide a resource for consultants, architects, designers, specifiers and installers,’ he explained. ‘It is the point of contact for providing appropriate technical and commercial advice, together with practical application engineering support for the commercial audio and professional audio products that NAS represent.

‘I am excited to have been asked to join the team at NAS as it goes into a new phase of growth,’ enthused Mr Helmot. ‘They have always had a great reputation for being a competent and friendly company to deal with. I trust that the extensive industry experience and passion I bring to an already capable team at NAS will further enhance existing client relationships and foster new ones.’

Meanwhile, Mr Holmes will now work alongside Adam Warnock in his new role as NSW/ACT sales representative, which will see him visit NAS customers and strive to build the company’s commercial audio database.

NAS states that Mr Holmes brings ‘considerable experience’ to the role having worked in the commercial audio, professional audio and broadcast industry for over 15 years. In 2001 he completed a Master’s degree in Design Science Audio at the University of Sydney, and past positions include various roles working at Qphonics (Klotz Digital), Syntec and Yamaha.

Completing the trio of announcements is Mr Laurie’s appointment in internal sales. NAS describes Mr Laurie as ‘a relative newcomer’ to the wholesale end of the industry, but insists that he boasts ‘excellent general audio knowledge and experience’.

Mr Laurie is a bass player and holds a Bachelor of Audio degree from SAE. His experience includes production work with well-known touring ‘industry heavyweights’.
