National Peoples Congress reinforced by Kling amp Freitag

CHINA: A recent concert staged as part of China’s National People’s Congress, which took place in the 330m Beijing Trade Hotel, saw a Kling & Freitag Sequenza 10 line array used for sound reinforcement. The system was supplied by the manufacturer’s Chinese distributor, MYC Technology Co Ltd.
The concert took place within the 2,340 sq-m Qunxia hall, described as the biggest multi-purpose banqueting space in the city, and comprised a mixture of spoken-word presentations and live music, including songs such as I am proud to be Chinese, Red Star Song and Ode to the Native Country. In attendance were high ranking Chinese officials including the Mayor of Chongqing and the Mayor of Beijing. Presenting a challenge to the technical crew meanwhile was an imposed limit on the loudness of the reinforcement system coupled with a need for even coverage across the room.
The final system comprised four Kling & Freitag Sequenza 10N line array elements plus two K&F 10W enclosures for near-field coverage. Six 10B subwoofers were also deployed alongside a pair of Nomos XLC subs in a cardioid configuration intended to avoid on-stage spillage.
Approximately 40 different radio and handheld microphones were reportedly used at the event, while on-stage sound was via two Scena 15 wedges. All of the loudspeakers in the design were driven by Kling & Freitag’s SystemRack amplifiers, with a combination of a CD 44 digital system controller and a Lab.gruppen FP 10000Q used for loudspeaker management.
