National University of Singapore High School upgrades

SINGAPORE: The National University of Singapore High School has recently upgraded its 700-capacity auditorium with an HK Audio ConTour Array.
The system – designed in accordance with the requirements of in-house sound engineers Alex Seah and Delwin Chu – was installed by Peak Fusion, and selected for its coverage pattern. ‘The budget didn’t allow for an extra centre cluster, so we had to choose a line array system offering wide coverage,’ explained Peak Fusion project manager Bernard Tan. ‘The ConTour array offers 100-degrees of horizontal coverage with great intelligibility, which was exactly the requirement of the auditorium.’
Both of the flown arrays consist of a single CTA 118 active 18-inch subwoofer together with two CTA 208 two-way dual 8-inch speaker systems, while a further two CTA 118 subwoofers have been floor mounted to the left and right of the stage. Additional 12-inch cabinets have been wall mounted to act as delay lines.
‘We are using the PA mainly for speech in addition to some musical performances,’ explained Delwin Chu. ‘Because the system is sometimes run by less experienced pupils, it needed to be easy to use and pretty stable in terms of feedback. The ConTour array is really perfect for this sort of application.’
