New Shure wireless system launched by Sama ProSound at Koba 2014

KOREA: Shure Asia has announced the international launch of its new QLX-D digital wireless system at Koba 2014, promising a cost-effective solution featuring networked control and compatibility with its intelligent rechargeable battery technology. The launch was hosted on the booth of Korean distributor, Sama Prosound.

QLX-D is described by Shure as featuring automatic channel scan and IR sync to assist with finding and assigning an open frequency. The system is being targeted at applications including corporate, government, academic, worship and hotel installations as well as the MI and live sound sectors.

‘We chose Koba for the worldwide launch of QLX-D because Korea is a very important market to us,’ explained Shure Asia product manager, Andy Fong. ‘We’ve experienced a lot of growth here. Shure ULX is now 12 years old and even now that system is doing well. Korea has also been a great market for Shure ULX-D for many different applications. QLX-D is the streamlined version for customers looking for a digital system, but maybe with not all the features. It was also good timing as Koba was the first show in Asia when the system was ready to be unveiled to the public.’

Mr Fong presented a number of seminars to a packed room every day during the Seoul-based exhibition. QLX-D can next be seen at Palm Expo Beijing and Palm Expo India in Mumbai.

‘This system packs in a lot of sophistication,’ said Erik Vaveris, wireless category director at Shure. ‘It uses the same technology as our high-end digital wireless systems in a more affordable package with a streamlined feature set.’

Other features include all-metal construction, AES-256 encryption as standard, and lithium-ion rechargeable power options reportedly providing up to 10 hours of continuous use. QLX-D transmitters can also run on standard AA batteries for up to nine hours. The system is compatible with the manufacturer’s Wireless Workbench 6 control software, third-party control systems including AMX/Crestron and iOS devices for control and monitoring with the newly-introduced ShurePlus Channels mobile app. It begins shipping in August 2014.
