Nexo's STM Series becomes N & N's flagship system

JAPAN: One of Japan’s most distinguished sound rental companies has acquired a Nexo STM Modular line array as its new flagship PA system. Based in Ota-ku, Tokyo, N & N rental house has expanded its extensive Nexo inventory in a move they have described as ‘inevitable’.
As an audio supplier for a wide variety of special events and concerts over 40 years N & N has been a dedicated user of the French manufacturer’s Alpha and PS series’ in addition to GEO S12 Series line arrays. With the release of the STM M28 compact omni-purpose cabinet, the decision was taken to invest in the new modular line array on the basis that it can be used in large venues with capacities exceeding audiences of over 2,000 people. N & N’s representative director Mr Sato explains: ‘The timing was right – when the STM M28 was released, we were considering which speakers to bring in. Ultimately, we didn't even demo any speakers from other brands as we are long-time users of Nexo products and the character of the STM M28 sound didn't betray our expectations.’
Like all other major production companies, N & N emphasises the need to remain current, by updating its systems and technology on a regular basis. ‘My first impression of the STM M28 was that it is designed to make it easier for the people using it to produce sound,’ furthers Mr Sato. ‘The user has a high degree of freedom, for example, with the treatment of the medium to low range. There are many ways available for combining subwoofers and Nexo.’
N & N engineer Mr Kuriyama added: ‘The resolution is dramatically higher than in previous systems and the console operations have linearity. The mix is directly reflected in the sound output, so you really can't fake it. The sound image is close and the ratio of direct sound is high, so when we get to the main event and the customers come in, there isn't any major turnaround in the sound impression compared to rehearsal. These are speakers that don't betray us when it comes to the actual performance.
The STM series loudspeakers will be paired with Yamaha CL and QL series consoles supplied by Yamaha Sound Systems Inc, providing system compatibility over Dante networks.
