Nexo serves multiple functions in Robert Blackwood Hall

AUSTRALIA: Melbourne-based design and installation company Group Technologies has installed a Nexo sound reinforcement solution at Monash University’s Robert Blackwood Hall. The university required a solution that met the concert hall’s varied use.
‘It has been the venue for numerous commercial recordings for the ABC, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and various film scores,’ explained Group Technologies director Mark Ladewig. ‘In addition, it provides ceremonial functions.’
Group Technologies installed a main house PA system comprising left and right clusters of three Geo M6B low-mid frequency modules above eight Geo M620 cabinets. A centre cluster was also set up, formed from six M620s that are flown in front of four LS18 sub bass units. A further six M620s serve as front-fills, while front corner-fill is via PS10 loudspeakers.
‘We also placed two smaller arrays of four M620s flown as delays for the balcony,’ noted Mr Ladewig. ‘These were set further back in the hall as sometimes the balcony is used on its own for presentations.’
The solution is powered by Nexo’s NXAMP4X1 and NXAMP4x4 amplifiers and processing is courtesy of a Xilica A1616 processor. A Powerwise PD620M handles power distribution.
