Next-proaudio delivers Hi-Fi sound to Ulsan Mobis Phoebus

KOREA: The Ulsan Mobis Phoebus basketball team has had a new sound system from Next-proaudio installed at its Dongchun Gym home. The 5,500-capacity stadium in the South Korean city of Ulsan is now covered by HFA series speakers painted in the team's colours.

The new solution was designed and installed by the manufacturer's Korean distributor Avix Tech. The company needed to meet various needs with its design. 'Top of the list was high-fidelity sound that would be accepted by audiences and the team,' said Tom Jung, executive director of Avix Tech. 'And the sound system design had to improve on the sound systems which the team had used in the past.'

Adding to the design challenge were two important restrictions which the solution had to adhere to. First, the speakers needed to be installed around the second floor rear wall and second the installation could not be permanent. To meet these challenges, Avix Tech opted for 20 HFA115 powered speakers distributed around the second floor wall. These can be removed during the off season and re-installed prior to the new season getting underway.

A further request was for a four-point speaker and sub solution to cover the court itself. Avix Tech again turned to the HFA115 powered speaker for this with the addition of HFA118sHP subs.

At the team's request the whole system has also been custom painted to match its red uniform. 'The painting means the colour coordinates with the team,' said Jerry Lee, general manager of Ulsan Mobis sports team. 'The speakers look gorgeous and the audience is impressed and satisfied with the colour. Of course, the sound quality has improved too. It couldn't be better in this space.'
