Nick Sutton joins Sonodyne as senior projects manager

INDIA: Indian loudspeaker manufacturer Sonoydne Electronics has appointed Nick Sutton as its new senior projects manager to be based at the company’s head office in Kolkata. Mr Sutton was previously based in the UK at ASL Ltd.

Anindya Mukherjee, Sonodyne’s managing director explained the rationale behind the new appointment: ‘India is going through a large infrastructure upheaval at the moment so there are lots of large venues, transportation hubs, warehousing spaces and large stadiums which are now being built or renovated. Most of our existing client base is undertaking these projects and we have been asked to help them with the evacuation systems. We specialise in PA systems but evacuation, when it comes to adhering to BS special standards, requires specialist knowledge which we didn’t have.

‘Nick’s experience in the evacuation and security market over the last five years is invaluable as he helps us with that learning curve. He will also be training our technical team. It’s a new and unprecedented time – things are changing in India so it’s important that we get the right skill set in now.’

Speaking at the Palm India show, Mr Sutton explained what had made him move to his new position in India: ‘I started working in the integration market doing audio systems for homes, multi-room systems, offices and boardrooms as well as being involved in voice evacuation systems in places like railway stations, airports and the like,’ he commented. ‘So I’ve always being working in the audio and integration fields.

‘I met Sonodyne and over the last few years I have developed a relationship with the company. They’re a very professional, well respected company and especially well known in East India. Their installation series is very suitable for the voice evacuation market. The combination of their status as a company, India being a growing market and my experience and background means it’s a win-win situation.’

Mr Sutton added that his new role will ‘involve overseeing all the major installation projects, from auditoriums and theatres through to long-line public address installs with integration, train tracking systems, voice evacuation and standard supply systems. I’m looking forward to the challenge of learning all about a completely different market here in India as what works in the UK might not necessarily work here.’
