One Systems installed into Ocean Park Grand Aquarium

CHINA: The Grand Aquarium in Hong Kong’s Ocean Park has been supplied with a One Systems background music system supplied by the brand’s distributor Sound Classy. The install follows a previous project that saw the brand’s loudspeakers used in the Park’s Amazing Bird Theatre attraction, drawing an ‘overwhelmingly positive response’.
Ocean Park Hong Kong is one of the world's largest marine parks consisting of observatories, laboratories, an education department and a Whale and Dolphin Fund. The newly completed Grand Aquarium is intended to become a centre-piece attraction for visitors, boasting coral tanks, a man-made beach decorated with numerous sand sculptures, a touch pool, a Reef Tunnel, and the world's largest aquarium dome standing 5.5m in diameter.
Forming its BGM system are 16 106IM/70V loudspeakers, supplied by Sound Classy for a design by consultant Shen Milsom & Wike Ltd. The installation was carried out by China-Tech Engineering Co Ltd. The speakers are wall-mounted and hung with brackets underneath the glass top of the aquarium dome, and atop the outdoor escalator entrance, which is adjacent to the indoor information display.
According to Chris Fung of Sound Classy, constraints in possible speaker position led to the choice of the 106IM models. ‘The speaker's placement position is very narrow with limited space, therefore we chose the 106IM due to its compact size yet powerful output.’
One Systems president Doug MacCallum added: ‘We are exceptionally proud that our speakers were once again chosen for installation within Hong Kong's famed Ocean Park, and we look forward to continuing to provide them with powerful, high quality speakers.’
Forbes recognised Ocean Park Hong Kong as one of the World's Most Popular Amusement Parks in 2006, attracting over four million visitors a year.
