Orbital promotes Adam Thorneycroft to operations director

ASIA: Orbital Sound has appointed Adam Thorneycroft to the newly created position of operations director, reflecting the company’s growth across both rental and sales sectors and its increasing reach into the East Asian, European and North American markets.

Mr Thorneycroft joins the existing four-man board with immediate effect, working alongside Chris Headlam, managing director, Eric Simpson, event and communications director, Bill Addison, technical director and Tom Byrne, sales director.

Mr Thorneycroft’s primary role is to oversee all operational aspects and processes of Orbital’s rental business, across warehousing, engineering and logistics.  Prior to joining Orbital in 2007, he gained several years of valuable experience working as a production stage manager around the world, while his initial duties at Orbital involved establishing the engineering departments in the company’s UK and North American warehousing operations. He is also closely involved with Orbital’s apprenticeship scheme.

‘This is an important step for Orbital and reflects the enormous contribution that Adam has already made to the smooth operation of our business,’ said Chris Headlam, managing director of Orbital Sound. ‘He has ably demonstrated his immense organisational skills and has earned considerable respect throughout our staff. We have created the role of operations director to ensure that as our company expands and inevitably becomes more complex, its efficiency and smooth running can be maintained.  Adam’s responsibilities sit across Orbital’s hire, project management, engineering and distribution aspects, and he is a very welcome addition to our board of directors.’
