Outline Butterfly system used at Stone Temple Pilots concert

INDONESIA: Jakarta-based rental company Melodia recently supplied an Outline Audio system for a concert by American rock group Stone Temple Pilots. Held at the Pekan Raya Jakarta fair in Kemayoran, Melodia reports that the system was chosen for its low frequency response capabilities.

Due to the large size of the venue, sound engineer Tony Subarkah and system engineer Rosyadi designed a front of house system comprising 28 CDH 483 butterfly high-packs as the main PA in left and right hangs, plus 24 Mantas line array cabinets as out-fill in left-right hangs. Providing low-end were 20 Subtech subwoofers, while two Genius 26 and 24 system processors provided control for the Butterfly arrays and the Mantas systems, respectively.

However, after tuning the system, the FOH engineer for the Stone Temple Pilots decided that the Butterfly system alone was powerful enough to cover the area, leaving the Mantas system unused. Concert promoter Javamusikindo described itself as ‘happy and satisfied’ with the rig’s performance.
