BRUNEI: Singapore-based systems integrator Synergy AVL has completed a substantial Outline sound reinforcement installation at the Pusat Insani community centre in Brunei. The multi-million dollar centre was built to mark the Brunei Shell Petroleum Company’s 80 years of presence in the Sultanate.
The Pusat Insani project is described as serving as ‘a link between the Oil and Gas Discovery Centre and Seria Town.’ The ‘dynamic, forward-looking’ centre’s key feature is said to be its 1,500-capacity Multipurpose Hall, designed to host concerts, as well as royal, government, community, and corporate events.
Synergy AVL was awarded the contract to design, supply, install and commission the sound, stage lighting, video, control and camera systems for the Multipurpose Hall, Gymnasium, Aerobics Studio, VVIP Lounge, and Lobby Entrance. Headed by senior project manager Chip Chong, the Synergy team completed the project within its given schedule of six months, consulting representatives from Outline, LDR, Macostar, DTS Lighting, and Stark to deliver a ‘unique’ system that would deliver the best possible performance for the centre’s various areas.
The systems integrator chose an Outline vertical line array system to fulfil the centre’s audio requirements. This comprises a FOH system made up of 18 Mantas line arrays, four Subtech 218 subwoofers, eight T-Five digital amplifiers, and a Genius 26 DSP controller. Stage equipment is made up of six Outline H.A.R.D 115 SP loudspeaker systems as stage wedges, eight Shure SLX wireless microphones and antenna distribution systems, and two Klotz TrueLink Pro boxes.
Inside the Control Room, mixing is performed on an Allen & Heath GL2800 40-channel console and a pair of Outline Micra II loudspeaker systems as booth monitors. The processing racks are fitted with Klark Teknik SQ1D eight-channel dynamic processors, Klark Teknik Square One 31-band equalisers, Lexicon MX400XL and Yamaha SPX2000 effects units, Furman PS-PRO E Series II power conditioners, and a Denon & Tascam dual CD deck for playback.
In the Gymnasium and Aerobics venue, Synergy installed four Outline DVS 8 SP powered speakers with low frequency support from a single Outline Lab 15 SP powered sub. Two sets of Shure SLX wireless microphones and an Allen & Heath Zed audio mixer complete the system. The VVIP Lounge’s system comprises eight Outline DVS 8 SP speakers, Shure SLX wireless microphones, and an Allen & Heath Zed audio mixer.
Synergy designed an interactive 3D graphical floor projection in the Multipurpose Hall, reportedly the longest in Southeast Asia. This system comprises nine Stark Matrix projectors installed on XLT SC lifts, three Panasonic projectors (a PT-D12000 and two PT-D6000) paired with Remaco motorised screens. Also included are six Sony BRC-300 cameras linked through a Datavideo SE-900 eight-channel video mixer. Extron MTP Transmitters, IN1502 Scalers, and DSC500 Convertors, an AutoPatch 16x16 RGBHV Matrix Switcher, and an AMX Touch Panel Control System complete the hall’s audio-visual set-up.
The lighting system in the hall comprises fixtures from Luci della Ribalta (LDR) and DTS Lighting, as well as products from Macrostar, Antari, Daslight, Philips and Klotz Cables.
The Sultan of Brunei officially opened the venue.
