Palme Thailand cancelled by organiser

THAILAND: Informa Exhibitions has cancelled the Palme Thailand trade show, which was due to take place in September of this year at Bangkok’s Impact Convention Centre. The organiser has attributed the decision to ‘prolonged political unrest’ within the country.

Palme Thailand last set up at the Impact Convention Centre in September 2012, at that time returning to the country for the first time in six years. The event drew mixed reactions from exhibitors and attendees alike, with many commenting on the difficulties presented by its location outside of central Bangkok.

However, Informa’s official notice of cancellation made no mention of the previous show, instead declaring that ‘the prolonged political uncertainties in Thailand have affected the business environment’. The organiser added that the cancellation is intended to ‘protect the safety and monetary investments of our partners, exhibitors and visitors’. It described the trade show as postponed ‘indefinitely’, and promised to refund any monies paid by companies who had already booked space.
