Peak Fusion integrates surround sound system into Nanyang Technological University

SINGAPORE: Peak Fusion has integrated a 7.2 surround sound system into the Nanyang Technological University’s auditorium.
Kling & Freitag loudspeakers, processors and amplifiers were selected for the install, and a Marantz AV7005 and an OPPO BD95 3D Blu-Ray player take care of the decoding to provide the auditorium with 7.2 surround sound capability. The entire ON/OFF and power management is managed by Crestron PRO2 control system processor.
Peak Fusion’s Bernard Tan reports that programming the Kling & Freitag processor was ‘easy, but getting the right sound in the room required hours of detailing and placement. A Kling & Freitag CD44 digital controller, and Lab.gruppen FP 10000Q amps gave us dynamic programming features and headroom to allow us to achieve the right sound, coverage and SPL,’ he explained.
Mr Tan described the integration of old and new equipment inside the control room as ‘manageable,’ when taking out new amplifiers and tracing the signal cables. ‘But the integration of new systems required precise electrical load calculation, as the new additions loads up more current to run the amplifiers,’ he said.
‘We added in four Furman PS PRO UK versions to manage and sequence the AC loading through a remote automated wireless Crestron touch panel,’ he added.
‘Cabling management was no easy task,’ he continued. ‘The laying of new speaker cables from speaker point to control room was also not easy, as we needed to pack in new cables to existing structure trunking,’ he concluded.
