Philby Lewis appointed technical manager of Sydney Opera House

AUSTRALIA: Philby Lewis has been appointed to the position of technical manager of the Sydney Opera House. Mr Lewis now reports to David Claringbold, director of theatre and events.
In his new role, Mr Lewis is responsible for the staging, sound A/V, lighting and technical support departments. Previously, Mr Lewis worked as a technical and production manager for large scale events including the Singapore National Day, the Commonwealth Games opening and closing ceremonies, Productions du Dragon Belgium, the ARIA Awards, the Asian Games and various FIFA World Congress events. Prior to that, he ran his own events production company – Lots of Watts.
‘Philby has extensive knowledge and experience in all technical disciplines as well as significant project management experience,’ commented Mr Claringbold. ‘I am excited by this appointment and the future of the Sydney Opera House as we enter the next phase of our development.’
