WORLD: Bosch Communications has announced the addition of Philip Scobee to the Electro-Voice team, naming him product manager for concert sound. The appointment follows a long history between the loudspeaker brand and Mr Scobee, who was previously director of operations for Morris Leasing in the US and has helped to refine several EV technologies.
In his new role – reporting to Brian Divine – Mr Scobee will be responsible for both new and existing Electro-Voice concert product lines though he is arguably best known for his work designing touring systems for artists including Kenny Chesney and Sugarland, often designed around EV X-Line arrays. His past involvement with EV has been such that he contributed to the refinement of the brand’s IRIS-Net control software and FIR-Drive DSP filtering.
‘I’ve designed large-scale touring rigs for many different artists,’ Mr Scobee commented. ‘We chose EV for those tours because we believe so strongly in the quality of their products, which is the same reason that I’m now going to work for the company. I’m thrilled at the chance to be actively involved in developing and representing the EV concert sound line. I expect to be a voice inside the factory for everyone who’s out there doing concert sound. My job will be to help give them what they need from us in order to provide the best possible concert experience.’
