Philippines Soundcheck praises VerTec V5 tunings

PHILIPPINES: One of the leading rental companies in the Philippines has praised JBL’s V5 VerTec tunings following a recent upgrade. Quezon City-based Soundcheck, a long-term VerTec user, has installed V5 DSP presets across its entire inventory of VT4888 and VT4888DP line arrays.
With a history of handling the live sound requirements of major touring artists including Rihanna, Chris Brown, Incubus, Beyoncé, Linkin Park, Christina Aguilera and more, Soundcheck has used VerTec since the system was launched. According to owner and chief engineer Jaime Godinez, however, the V5 tunings have already garnered a significant reaction.
‘After installing the V5 upgrade and testing the speakers by running pre-recorded music on them for hours, we sent them out for a major local show right away,’ explained Mr Godinez. ‘We went through the show without a hitch and have since done more than 60 shows with them including a few large open-air concerts. Most importantly, my clients are noticing the difference between our sound and that of the competition.’
Mr Godinez went on to heap praise on the new presets. ‘No comments I can give can adequately convey the experience of actually hearing the sonic improvements that V5 provides, especially in an open-air environment,’ he enthused.
He added, however, that some adjustments were necessary between V4 and V5: ‘With V5 you might have to make an adjustment to the gain of the DriveRack modules compared to the settings you’d use with the V4, to make sure the gain between the board, speakers and the rest of the system is optimised.’
