MALAYSIA: Pinewood Studio’s newly opened Iskander facility (PIMS) in Malaysia has announced the appointment of Rezal A Rahman as the new chief executive officer for Iskander Malaysia Sdn Bhd (IMS) – the company established to undertake PIMS development. Michael Lake, who has been the CEO since 2010 will relinquish the role to take up the position of group managing director with Rhizophora Ventures Sdn Bhd (RVSB).
‘On behalf of the board, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Michael for his contribution over the past three and a half years, resulting in the successful launch of Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios,’ said Tan Sri Rafidah, chairman of IMS. ‘We now look forward to Rezal moving the company forward through the next phases of its growth.’
Mr Lake has reportedly been instrumental in directing the launch of the studios in his role as the CEO. With the official opening of the Studios taking place last month and with the Marco Polo television series in production at the facility, Mr Lake will move into the next phase of building the creative content industry in Malaysia. He will, however, remain as a board member of IMS.
Mr Rahman is described as an experienced senior executive who has worked closely with Mr Lake for the past three years during the construction and operationalisation of PIMS.
