Playground festival calls on dampb

INDONESIA: The Jakarta leg of the recent Playground festival utilised d&b audiotechnik J and Q series speakers to cover the various performance areas. Pe’plus Audio provided the sound equipment for the 8,000 capacity venue.
The festival took place over three stage areas, comprising the main indoor tennis area which featured performances from Gorillaz Sound System, Kelis and local DJs, the outdoor jungle area that saw sets from St Etlenne, Van She, and the Brandals on the silent concert stage.
For the outdoor stage, a d&b J series system was put to use for the first time in Indonesia, reportedly receiving a good response from the audience and client during set up and show. A total of 12 J8s, eight Jsubs and 14 D12 amps covered the venue. An Avid Venue SC 48 was used at FOH and Midas Pro2 covered monitors. A further 12 EV SX 250 and four PSM 200 were also used to support the monitor system.
For the indoor arena a d&b Q series PA was used. A total of 26 Q1s, two Q7s, six B2 Subs, and 18 Q Subs were driven by 16 D 12 amps. The FOH console was again an Avid Venue SC 48 with a Yamaha M7CL covering monitors. On stage, six EV QRX 112 boxes, Sennheiser G3 IEMs and Shure PSM 700 IEM completed the monitor system.
All PA system tuning was controlled via a laptop through d&b’s R60, and it provided a real advantage for Pe’plus: ‘The simplicity that the d&b D12 amplifier and d&b R60 network controller can offer has given us so many advantages with the short time set up,’ said Rizky Pohan, MD for Pe’plus. ‘Having all d&b systems for the show was a good thing because every area had a very similar sound. A&T Solution as the d&b sales partner in Indonesia helped us with manpower and equipment support during the show.’
On the silent stage two local DJs and a local band played on a stage divided into three sections. Over 1,000 wireless headphones were handed out to the crowd which enabled the audience to pick which of the three sets they wanted to listen to. The three different mixes were sent from an Allen & Heath iLive T112 while a myMix personal monitoring system was used by the musicians.
