PLS and Audiocenter power Sithan KKU Festival

THAILAND: A 15,000-strong crowd gathered at the recent Sithan KKU Festival in Thailand’s Khon Kaen city for headline performances by popular Thai bands PP Project, Boy Peacemaker and ETC. Enlisted by the event organisers to handle audio for the festival, Bangkok-based Professional Light & Sound (PLS) opted to deploy AudioCenter’s flagship V-HLA+ MKII line array system. The three-day-long event, which culminated in a musical concert on the third night, was sponsored by the Thai domestic airline, Nok Air.

PLS deployed left-right clusters of 12 Audiocenter V-HLA12+ MKII line array cabinets each side for the main front of house reinforcement – a three-way enclosure comprising dual 8-inch Faital woofers and custom 2.84-inch Beyma HF compression drivers. An additional 16 Audiocenter SW218 dual 18-inch front-loaded subwoofers were strategically positioned in front of the stage to provide the necessary low-end output. Side fills were handled by two clusters of three K-LA28-DSP line array elements and an SW218 subwoofer, while front fill was catered to by four of the manufacturer’s TS series cabinets.

Additionally, on-stage monitoring was from a combination of 12-inch and 15-inch PF+ series speakers, while Audiocenter DA series amplifiers provided the necessary power for the entire system. According to the PLS team, the sound system provided ‘excellent sound quality and coverage’, and overall, the FOH engineer ‘thoroughly enjoyed the concert and commended the way we had set up the system’.
