NEW CALEDONIA: Point HiFi Sono N°1 recently equipped the board of directors room at Cafat (Compensation fund for family allowances, occupational accidents and pensions for workers in New Caledonia and dependencies) with equipment from Shure. Located in New Caledonia, the building serves as a social security-type facility that deals with the repayment of hospital expenses and the reimbursement of medicine costs.
The then-director of Cafat Jean-Pierre Criffo (who has since retired) contacted Point HiFi Sono N°1 having been impressed with the company’s installation at the New Caledonia Parliament building some years before, and requested that the team suggest an appropriate microphone setup for the building. Ouamba Philippe has since succeeded Mr Criffo as director for the business.
The installation lasted one week, during which a total of 38 Shure MX418/C condenser mics, five SCM810E automatic microphone mixers, and a DFR22E digital audio processor were installed into the facility. Additional equipment comprised an ARX ZA-800 power amplifier and eight CM500i SoundTube Entertainment in-ceiling speakers.
‘The customer is happy with this system, and we don’t have much apprehension that the equipment should be troublesome due to the excellent standard of Shure's products,’ said Daniel Humbert, executive manager at Point HiFi Sono N°1.
‘We are a much-requested organisation because we have a sound engineer in our team (an ex-engineer from Bosch) which is unique,’ he furthered. ‘The reaction from users is very positive, and on the day of the inauguration which was the first use of the new equipment, we were present to supervise and provide advice. I think that my technicians did a very good job,’ he concluded.
