WORLD: Powersoft has significantly expanded its operations in Scandicci, Florence. Having been based at its via Conti 5 address since the late 1990s, the Italian amplification specialist recently acquired a new 1,200 sq-m building on the same road to house its customisation, servicing, shipping, R&D and logistics support teams. In addition, the newly renovated building also has state-of-the-art conferencing facilities and meeting rooms.
The manufacturer is well known for its ‘Green Power’ credentials, on account of its highly efficient models and factory near Bologna which is powered by 700 solar panels, and it is making no attempt to hide this theme in the new facility. Rooms throughout are equipped with eco-friendly and energy saving devices, whilst the interior décor of painted trees and leaves is in keeping with the concept.
Previously, R&D shared its office space at number 5 with management, sales and administration. In contrast, the new spacious laboratory and testing facility that accommodates 20 R&D personnel is bright, spacious and well equipped.
‘Noise pollution was a bit of an issue before when R&D was sharing the same building with sales and management,’ admitted marketing and communications manager Sandro Marini. ‘But now R&D are enjoying their work in the new facilities and coming up with some very interesting designs including DEVA, the new Outdoor Intelligent Multimedia Unit.’ In addition to the contracted employees working at the two manufacturing facilities in northern Italy, 55 personnel are directly employed in Scandicci.
