Professor Jörg Sennheiser tours Greater China

CHINA: Professor Jörg Sennheiser recently toured Greater China in celebration of the company’s 70th anniversary. The tour also followed the Professor’s December 2014 decision to hand over the chairmanship of Sennheiser Electronic GmbH, having already been succeeded by his two sons, Daniel and Andreas Sennheiser, as joint CEOs. The tour was therefore described by the company as ‘poignant for the Sennheiser family, marking the end of an era under Professor Sennheiser’s leadership’.
Accompanied by Marc Vincent, president of Sennheiser Greater China, Professor Sennheiser first visited Beijing’s C&C Park on April 21st, followed by a press conference and lecture on April 27th at the Sennheiser Shanghai Concert Hall. Finally, in Hong Kong on May 4th, he met with VIPs, clients, sponsorship partners, educators, students and friends from the media at the Wellcome Theatre on 139 Pokfulam Road. His lectures throughout the tour offered guests an intimate and personal account of Sennheiser history not just from a president’s perspective but also from that of a son who watched his father build the company.
For each of the events, Professor Sennheiser used the Digital 9000 wireless system. Additionally, a mid-western US band named Metro also used the 9000 system for a-capella performances of both Mandarin and English songs at the Hong Kong event.
During the tour Professor Sennheiser offered his thoughts on the Chinese market as well as his thanks to his colleagues. ‘This is my second time visiting Greater China, my last time here was 20 years ago,’ he said. ‘Sennheiser Hong Kong was founded in 1999 and we set up a second company, Sennheiser Electronic, in Beijing in 2008, followed by the Shanghai office opening. Thank you Marc Vincent for these eight years in building up a mature Greater China team providing Sennheiser with strong support in this gigantic market.’
Mr Vincent responded, ‘It is a privilege and once in a lifetime experience for all our business partners to have this opportunity to meet with Professor Jörg Sennheiser at the end of his tenure as president of Sennheiser. As he embarks on a new adventure, we are so lucky to have had him here with us these past few weeks to share his very personal views on the audio industry. Nobody is more knowledgeable or respected for his innovative works and developments that have propelled Sennheiser to the top of the audio stratosphere. We hope that all our guests enjoyed their meeting with Professor Sennheiser and we wish him great health and relaxation on his next adventures. He has certainly earned it’.
