QSC promotes Jatan Shah and Barry Ferrell

WORLD: QSC Audio Products LLC has promoted Jatan Shah to the position of executive vice president, chief operating officer and announced that Barry Ferrell is now vice president, cinema.
In his new role, Mr Shah will oversee the company’s finance, R&D, manufacturing, supply chain, IT and legal functions. Mr Shah first joined QSC in 2010 and has served as chief financial officer and chief technology officer, leading the finance, R&D, legal, and IT departments. Prior to joining the company, he served for five years as senior engagement manager at McKinsey & Company, and spent the five years before that as a manager at United Technologies Corporation.
‘Since joining QSC, Jatan has made unparalleled contributions to our success through his leadership and critical thinking,’ said Joe Pham, QSC chief executive officer. ‘He has led many key efforts across the organisation in the areas of financial management, product development, and an operations transformation. His exceptional business skills and leadership traits make him an invaluable member of our executive team as we move forward in building the future at QSC. I am thrilled and very grateful to have a professional of his calibre working with us.’

Meanwhile, new VP, cinema Mr Ferrell began his career at the company in 1990 as an applications engineer and was the first technical hire at the company in the sales and marketing department. After working in a number of different roles at QSC, he then assumed the leadership role of the Cinema Group in 2009. During his 22-year career at the company, he has served as the product manager for every single cinema product developed at QSC.
Mr Ferrell began his career in cinema and professional audio in 1980 when he was hired as an usher at a local cinema, then quickly moved into the projection booth. After this, he did audio installation and service work for a major theme park, and then worked for National Amusements as a union projectionist. In 1987 he moved to Omaha to take over the console pre-wire department at Ballantyne Strong.
‘Barry has led our cinema efforts in every way, including the development of many outstanding products for this important marketplace,’ enthused Mr Pham. ‘I am very excited for Barry to be at the helm as we continue to offer our next generation of complete cinema solutions.’

Mr Ferrell is involved in the activities of the International Cinema Technology Association (ICTA) and is a frequent contributor to its technical seminars, is a past president of the organisation and currently serves on the board of directors.
