QSC provides durable solution for Urban Turban

NEW ZEALAND: A stylish new bar/restaurant in Auckland’s Wynyard Quarter has recently been fitted with AcousticDesign loudspeakers from QSC, driven by GX3 and RMX850 amplifiers. The Mumbai influenced bar, named Urban Turban, enlisted the help of local A/V contractor Halogen Audio to carry out the installation. QSC’s exclusive distributor in New Zealand, NOW Sound, supplied the loudspeakers and amplifiers, along with a new Shure wireless microphone system.

Taking into consideration the restaurant's north-facing waterfront location, Halogen's Rick Senekal chose models from the AcousticDesign series due to its durable construction and ability to endure the wind, sun, salt air and water.

‘The audio system is an important part of the ambience in a busy waterfront venue like this — it can't afford to fail,’ explained Mr Senekal. ‘From long experience of QSC amps and speakers, I know the system at Urban Turban won't do that, even with all that the Auckland weather can throw at the place.’

Highly impressed with the results achieved outside, the venue’s management subsequently reenlisted the Halogen team to fit the interior with QSC ADs as well. The final system comprises seven AD-S52 5-inch and two AD-S82 8-inch two-way loudspeakers, finished to match the restaurant’s décor, and driven by QSC RMX850 and GX3 amplifiers respectively.

‘I know my friends at the restaurant are happy with the system, because they keep on inviting me back for beers on the house,’ Mr Senekal concluded. ‘That's what I call a successful install.’
