Qvest wins Mediacorp contract

SINGAPORE: Qvest Media has won the contract for MediaCorp‘s new campus at Mediapolis@one-north. Qvest will be responsible for project-related consulting, evaluation and development of technology and business processes for the project which is scheduled to complete in 2015.

The company will be in charge of the integration planning and implementation services as well as the service and customer support during the commissioning and supervision of the primary on-air phase. The project marks a successful start for Qvest’s new subsidiary in Singapore and the expansion of its business in South East Asia.

‘This project is one of the most important technological milestones since we started our broadcasting operations in 1936. After its completion in 2015, we will carry out our media operations in one of the most technologically advanced new campuses in the South East Asia region,’ said Joe Igoe, chief technology officer at MediaCorp.

‘Qvest Media understood our approach to the project instantly,’ added Norraine Yusof, SVP of campus technology development, MediaCorp. ‘This has enabled us to define our shared objectives from the onset to determine our requirements in the fields of management, technology, processes and resources.’

In the initial phase, the contract includes the entire broadcasting and media consulting, which will streamline the broadcaster to an entirely new technical design. The aim is to efficiently link infrastructural areas within MediaCorp to ensure that functions such as ingest, non-linear post-production, multi-channel playout and media asset management will be mapped out in an integral overall concept through end-to-end file-based workflows.

In later phases, Qvest Media will also be responsible for the entire operational project planning, management and execution, alongside the technical development and system integration.

‘Qvest Media will provide MediaCorp with an internationally-experienced and highly-specialised partner for the realisation of the major infrastructure project,’ stated Stephan Koelsch, designated managing director of Qvest Media Singapore. ‘The MediaCorp contract is further proof of our current position as one of the most powerful technology service providers for the broadcasting, media and telecommunications industry in the international growth markets. Moreover, the project is an important stepping stone towards laying a solid foundation for our new site in Singapore.’
