Renkus-Heinz sets the tone at the Galaxy Macau Casino

CHINA: Located on the Cotai Strip in Macau, the 2,200-room Galaxy Macau hotel-casino has been equipped with Renkus-Heinz sound systems in the building's main and bus lobbies. Birket Engineering Ltd worked in tandem with Audio System Consultants (Asia) Ltd to install the systems into the visually striking spaces.
Described by Forbes as ‘Las Vegas on steroids’, the casino city has in recent times boasted revenue figures six times that of the city it was modelled on. Now firmly considered the casino capital of the world, the Galaxy Macau is one of the largest super-casinos to grace the Cotai Strip, offering guests six swimming pools (including a wave pool and man-made beach), 1,200 slot machines and 600 gambling tables.
Upon entering the hotel’s lobby, visitors are greeted by a gigantic fountain that transforms into a giant roulette wheel, just before a massive 3m diamond rises from its top. Music accompanies the fountain display, and that is catered for in the main lobby by a series of Renkus-Heinz Iconyx digitally steering column arrays. Eight IC8-R columns and eight IC16-R columns provide even sound distribution throughout the area, reportedly overcoming the noise of the crowds and the fountain in the cacophonous environment. The system also includes eight ST8R self-powered three-way cabinets, with 12 PN112-SUBR 12-inch subwoofers for extended low frequency coverage. The entire system is networked via the manufacturer’s Rhaon distribution and control platform.
At the far side of the building, the bus lobby is home to a series of giant crystals that float above a shimmering pool. As guests approach them, motion sensor technology is used to trigger visual effects such as good luck symbols flashing from the crystals and reflecting on the waters. This display is also reinforced with sound from Renkus-Heinz. A total of 16 CF121 two-way loudspeakers, another 12 PN121 two-way cabinets and 12 PN112-SUBR subwoofers form this audio system. An additional nine SG81 speakers provide spot fills.
