Riedel to present Red Bull Stratos Project case study at Broadcast Asia

SINGAPORE: Jacqueline Voss, system engineer for Riedel Communications’ broadcast solutions area and a part of the Stratos team, will present ‘The Red Bull Stratos Case Study: World-Record Technology for Broadcasting, Transmission and Distribution’ at Broadcast Asia 2013. Scheduled for 16:20 on June 20th at the Marina Bay Sands, the presentation will provide a comprehensive overview of the technology that helped to bring the record-breaking skydive by daredevil Felix Baumgartner live to an international audience.

During the presentation, Ms Voss will discuss the complete production, including the recording captured in the capsule that took Mr Baumgartner to the edge of space, as well as the on-board video control system for nine HD video cameras.

Ms Voss will then explain how Riedel equipment supported a multiviewer with live camera and monitoring signals, and will examine the capsule's radio installation and signal distribution infrastructure. The presentation will also cover the ways in which the MediorNet fibre-based real-time network was used for the transport and routing of HD video, audio, communications and data signals on the ground, and how this reduced the time, cost and work required by the Red Bull Stratos team.

The Red Bull Stratos project recently earned a Sports Emmy Award in the category of ‘Outstanding New Approaches Sports Event Coverage’.
