Sanitec brings Snell to Ningbo TVs first HD OB truck

CHINA: Systems integrator Beijing Xingguang Film & TV Equipment Technologies Co Ltd (Sanitec) recently supplied Ningbo TV with a plethora of Snell products for the broadcaster’s first all-HD OB truck. The Snell equipment joins several existing Snell systems in production at the Ningbo TV facility, including a Sirius 600 128 x 128 router and additional KudosPlus HD TBS800 converters.

At the heart of the purchase is a 3M/E Kahuna switcher, teamed with a Sirius 600 128 x 128 router managed by Snell's Aurora router control system. Meanwhile, a Kudos Plus HD TBS800 provides format conversion, while IQ modular components handle a range of functions including AES/EBU embedding/de-embedding and audio processing, HD/SD-SDI frame synchronisation, multi-standard encoding, up/down/cross-conversion, and AES/analogue DA.

‘Ningbo TV already relies on several other Snell systems for its broadcast operations, so our client was well-accustomed to the performance, reliability and quality of the company's solutions,’ commented Sanitec marketing manager Li Yuehui. ‘The Snell solutions meet all of Ningbo TV's technical requirements for its new HD van, including easy expandability and the ability to handle simultaneous SD and HD signals.’

Ningbo TV has been broadcasting news, lifestyle, culture and entertainment programmes to approximately 10 million viewers across counties and districts in China since 1984. The digital production facility at the broadcaster’s headquarters measure 30,000 sq-m, and testing is currently underway for an additional four digital channels.
