Second Submerge Supernova festival supplied with V-Dosc

INDIA: Submerge Supernova 2012 recently took place in Bangalore with an L-Acoustics sound reinforcement system supplied by rental company J Davis Prosound & Lighting. The event marked the second outing for the dance music event, and the second collaboration between its organiser and J Davis, who also supplied lighting, LED and trussing.
Staged at the E-Zone Club and organised by Submerge, the company behind the popular year-end Goa festival Sunburn, the one-day ‘boutique festival’ saw 22 DJs and artists perform across three stages. It has been described as Bangalore’s ‘first summer music festival’.
‘The idea behind Supernova is just like the name – a big event that happens in a short period of time, creating a huge amount of energy,’ enthused festival director and co-host Nikhil Chinapa. He added that the event was intended to boast a quirky science fiction theme ‘featuring weird things like spacemen and rockets’.
Among the artists appearing were Ferry Corsten, DJ Pearl, DJ Swing, Sanjay Dutta, DJ Clitus, Vachan Chinapa, Nawed Khan, Brute Force, Medival Pundit, and Blot.
V-Dosc cabinets were deployed for use across two performance areas including the main stage (named ‘This Stage’) and a pool side area (named ‘That Stage’). Low end was delivered via SB218 subs while the system was powered by LA48 amplifiers. A Lake Controller and BSS Omnidrive were also supplied.
Lighting systems, meanwhile, included 16 PR Lighting Beam 300 moving heads, 12 Claypaky Alpha Spot 1200s, 16 LED moving head washes, eight Robe 575 washes, 60 3W LED pars and eight Coemar versatile lights.
‘It was an awesome experience for us to work for the second time with the Submerge crew for the Supernova Festival,’ commented J Davis Prosound & Lighting chief sound engineer Santana Davis. ‘We made sure we delivered the best!’
A particular highlight of the event was reportedly the creation of a number of ‘space invader’ displays using a background of P15 LED mesh supplied by Graflex Inc, the A/V division of J Davis Prosound & Lighting. The visuals were handled by VJ Kaycee while other members of the team included lighting engineer P Kumar, lighting tech Shankar D, and A/V technical head Anil B.
