Sennheiser Asia equips Java Jazz Festival

INDONESIA: Partnering with festival organiser PT Java Festival Production, Sennheiser Electronic Asia in collaboration with its global relations team, deployed more than 40 channels of wireless RF microphones, monitoring and antenna systems, as well as an abundance of evolution 800 and 900 vocal and instrument mics for the recent Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival 2012.

The three-day event saw over 200 performances take place over 17 stages, and headliners included Stevie Wonder, Pat Methany, Herbie Hancock, Erykah Badu, and the Al Jarreau and George Duke trio.

Sennheiser’s SR 300 IEM monitoring transmitters were installed to ensure reliable RF transmission with all bodypack transmitters and in-ear monitors used on stage. A total of 14 channels of Sennheiser evolution wireless 300 IEM G3 systems were utilised amongst eight stages, and six channels of the brand’s 2000 series of professional wireless audio systems with MMD 935 cardioid microphone capsules were used solely for both concerts by vocal music group The Manhattan Transfer.

Meanwhile, two K-array Redline KR400 speakers together with Sennheiser evolution wireless SKM 335, SKM 345 G3 and evolution 800 and 900 series mics supported a mini ‘jamming’ stage, which attracted many impromptu performances from a variety of acts.

‘It was yet another incredible experience for Sennheiser to support and complement the entire technical crew at this year’s Java Jazz Festival,’ said Ng Chee Soon, president and managing director of Sennheiser Asia. ‘The festival line-up was truly world-class, and we were delighted to be part of this regional landmark festival for the second year running, and I believe we will continue to do so in more festivals to come.’

Reflecting on the use of Sennheiser microphone technology and K-array speaker systems at the festival, Dewi AL Gontha, president director of PT Java Festival Production said: ‘This year, the support we received from Sennheiser was tremendous. Working with the Sennheiser team and partners once again has given us the guarantee of good audio quality at the festival. The amount of equipment supported was substantial and we are thrilled to welcome more of Sennheiser’s involvement in our upcoming festivals.’

Meanwhile, a specially built brand booth showcased Sennheiser’s heritage and network of global artists. To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Sennheiser Asia and its local partners provided a Sennheiser Bar concept booth, which comprised a radio station control room (in collaboration with local station Indika 91.6FM) and two live performance areas.

The booth’s performing stages were equipped with an L-Acoustics SB18 subwoofer and 112P coaxial self-powered speaker on each side, accompanied by a Sennheiser e 965 vocal wired microphone, evolution 900 series instrument microphones, evolution wireless SKM 145 G3, and a K-array Blueline KB1 portable speaker system. Also present was a DJ mixing console coupled with Sennheiser HD 25 Originals headphones.
