HONG KONG: A total of more than 300 Sennheiser microphones and 300 K-Array loudspeakers were deployed for Clockenflap 2014, the seventh outing of the West Kowloon-based music festival. Sennheiser was again the official sound partner for the festival, which drew crowds of more than 45,000 across three days. The event was ‘repacked and rezoned’ this year to provide a family-friendly experience.
‘Sennheiser is proud to be the official sound partner for Clockenflap 2014, we have the experience and know-how to put festivals together having done it in Asia,’ commented Marc Vincent, president of Sennheiser Greater China. ‘It is gratifying to see the growth and appreciation for music in our own backyard and what’s most important is the great sense of community and family that this festival has managed to evoke from dwellers.’
Prior to the event, Sennheiser’s technical, logistic, branding and product teams descended on the Waterfront Promanade to set up the stages and silent disco area. K-Array speakers were used to provide reinforcement for all of the stages in combination with Sennheiser microphones, and the manufacturer’s headphones were also used to power the silent disco.
‘Sennheiser’s silent disco was as usual a highlight of the festival,’ furthered Mr Vincent. ‘We had fans queuing up from 1pm till 10pm to dance away with friends at the silent disco and we were lucky to have some of Hong Kong’s best DJs spin during the three days.’
Fans throughout the three-days were reportedly very impressed with the FOH set up as well as the quality of the audio output, with one acknowledging: ‘I knew that Sennheiser did amazing consumer headphones and I myself own a pair, but it is impressive seeing the level of professionalism that comes with putting together the stage for concerts. The sound was incredible and I have a new level of respect for the company.’
