Sennheiser sponsors young bands in Hong Kong

CHINA: A Hong Kong-based competition for aspiring young musicians was recently sponsored by Sennheiser, with the winning band receiving a cash voucher from the manufacturer worth HK$5,000. Sennheiser G3 wireless microphone systems were used throughout the contest.

Organised by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, the event – named the Youth Band Sounds Competition 2011 – was held in two stages, a heat on March 27th at the HKFYG Tsuen Wan Indoor Sports Centre, and a final on April 10th at Western Market. All Hong Kong local amateur bands were invited to participate, with 12 finalists ultimately playing in front of a panel of judges including Joey Tang, Davy Chan, Clayton Cheung and Sammy@Kolor.

To give time for the judges to choose a winner, meanwhile, two drum-playing members of the audience were invited onstage to listen to drum tracks on Sennheiser HD 25 Originals headphones before attempting to repeat what they had heard. The top prize was eventually given to Pendular, while Sennheiser Adidas CX 680i Sports headphones and HD 220 Originals were also donated.
