Show Gear purchases first Malaysian QL consoles

MALAYSIA: AV rental company Show Gear has added two Yamaha QL5 mixing consoles and a single QL1 to its inventory. The Malaysian company, which primarily focuses on the corporate market, plans to use the desks for its small to medium scale events, reserving its previously purchased CL1 for larger scale conference events or small concerts. The consoles are the first to be sold through Yamaha’s Malaysian distributor AV United, who after previously forming a long running relationship with the rental house, considers Show Gear an ‘A Class’ customer.
‘As we own a CL5 and RIO stage rack, adding the QL consoles to our inventory makes us more flexible, as both can be looped into the same network so that the audio can be distributed across the entire network,’ commented Dato Seah of Show Gear. 'Furthermore, the expandable audio routing via Dante is fast and user friendly.'
One of the features that attracted Show Gear to the QL consoles was the Dan Duggan Automixer: ‘The Dan Dugan Automixer allows the engineer to manage mics without needing to continually ride individual faders and it also reduces ambience noise and increases gain before feedback occurs,’ added Mr Seah. ‘Also Premium Racks. After the cooperation with Rupert Neve, the QL consoles have come a long way from the LS9, it can now help engineers to shape the sound and achieve a better studio quality mix for live sound applications.’
