Shure Asia names William Chan as managing director

ASIA: Shure Incorporated has promoted William Chan to become managing director of its Asia Pacific Business Unit, just months after Mr Chan was elevated to the position of deputy managing director. The new promotion became effective on July 1st.

Mr Chan joined Shure Asia as regional marketing director in 2008, while his rise to deputy MD was announced in February of this year. In the months since he has reportedly coordinated business planning, sales, and marketing while Shure Asia’s day-to-day activities in Hong Kong. Part of his brief as managing director will be ‘strengthen the presence of the Shure brand in the region’.

Prior to joining Shure in 2008, Mr Chan spent three years with Oracle Systems Greater China as an applications marketing manager and eight years with Apple Asia working in various positions, most recently as senior marketing communications manager for North Asia. He has studied in both the UK and USA.

Following the announcement, Al Hershner, vice president of Shure’s Americas and Asia Pacific Business Units, praised Mr Chan as having ‘demonstrated excellent management capabilities’. He also described the new managing director as ‘a role model for the Shure culture and our core values’.

Mr Chan commented: ‘I am glad to become managing director of Shure Asia. I am confident that, with the support of our talented team members in Asia and the professionalism and dedication that they exhibit, we will be able to further grow the business.’
