Shure mics deployed at Java Jazz Festival

INDONESIA: A number of performers at Jakarta’s recent Java Jazz festival utilised equipment from Shure. The event attracted approximately 100,000 visitors over the three days, and Sumber Ria was responsible for all the audio equipment in the six halls and seven stages.

Artists utilising Shure gear included Stevie Wonder, who used an UR2 handheld transmitter and a KSM9 vocal mic, as did seven-time Grammy Award-winning jazz singer Al Jarreau and singer, producer and composer George Duke. Meanwhile, Dutch singer Laura Fygi and Indonesian rock band God Bless opted for SLX2 transmitters with Beta 58A vocal mics, whilst jazz guitarist Pat Metheny used a wired SM58 microphone.

‘Shure is always top of our list for artists’ live performance microphones,’ said a representative from Sumber Ria. ‘No installation is easier than Shure.’

Shure equipment was also displayed at a booth during the festival, and a capella band Duwende utilised equipment from the manufacturer during a performance at the booth.

The Sumber Ria spokesman said: ‘I would like to thank the festival’s founder, Peter Gontha. As Chairman of PT Java Festival Production, his efforts have been very effective in educating Indonesia’s music market, especially in terms of jazz. I would also like to thank PT Java Festival Production president Ms Dewi Gontha for her hard work as head of production. Her co-ordination skills coped admirably with a formidable turnover rate of microphones, instruments and other equipment at the festival.’
