Singapores Switch becomes third Timbre Group venue with DAS

SINGAPORE: Switch, the latest live music venue and bar to be opened by the Timbre Group, has been equipped with a wealth of DAS Audio loudspeakers, becoming the third Timbre venue to choose DAS for its sound reinforcement requirements.
Located in the Bras-Basah district of Singapore, the 300-seat bilingual venue hosts nightly live performances in both English and Mandarin. The venue last appeared on Pro Audio Central when Audio Technica announced that it was sponsoring the club in February, 2012.
DAS Audio’s Singaporean office reportedly took an active role in the design and specification of the new reinforcement system, which includes enclosures from DAS Audio’s Aero Series 2 and Avant ranges. Switch is also the first project in Singapore to utilise the new Road series of stage monitors.
Front of house sound in the venue is delivered via eight Aero 8A powered line array elements flown four per-side using AX-Aero8 flybars. Each Aero 8A incorporates a Class-D two-channel power amplifier providing 250W for the low frequency transducer and 100W for the HF driver. Additional low end is supplied by three ground-stacked 1,800W LX-215A powered band-pass subs. Further into the audience area, meanwhile, three powered Avant 15A enclosures are positioned as delay fills.
For onstage sound, four Road 12A powered stage monitors have been supplied alongside an Avant 12A multipurpose loudspeaker for drum monitoring. Loudspeaker management is taken care of by a DSP-4080 four-in, eight-out digital signal processor.
‘Since our grand opening in February, the DAS setup at Switch is working very well for us,’ commented Danny Loong, chief creative director of Timbre Group Pte Ltd. ‘As is the case with our other properties, the sound quality is terrific and the equipment is both reliable and durable. This new sound system has tremendous clarity and well-rounded warmth. We are very pleased and look forward to further developing our relationship with DAS Audio.’
Eduardo Lopez, business operations manager for DAS Audio Asia, was equally pleased with the installation. ‘We are particularly pleased with the close ties our company has developed with Timbre Group due to their passion for Live Music,’ he explained. ‘At all their outlets with our systems, we know our loudspeakers are put to the test every night with a variety of performance styles. This is precisely why we also collaborated in this new outlet, the third one opened by Timbre with DAS Audio systems. For such an occasion, we decided it was the perfect time to introduce our latest Road Series monitors here in Singapore, and showcase them at their best — with a live performance every night.’
