Soundus wins Korean myMix distribution

KOREA: Seoul-based distributor Soundus has been awarded the exclusive distribution of myMix in South Korea. The deal follows the recent appointment of Tommy Kim as business development director Asia for Movek, the company behind the personal mixing solution.

The agreement sees myMix join a portfolio of major brands including DiGiCo, Funktion One, K-Array, One Systems and more. For Mr Kim – who is based in Seoul – it is a pillar of his strategy to help grow the brand within Asia.

‘I’m sure that Soundus will succeed in the Korean market,’ he said. ‘I want to use this country as a base, which is why I am here, and Soundus will be a leader in Asia for myMix as Korea has a big church market.’

Within Soundus, responsibility for myMix will fall to team leader Byungchul Park, who describes himself as confident of the technology’s success within the market. ‘we are very well acquainted with the personal monitor market, so we are confident,’ he explained, referring to the company’s previous 10-year relationship with a competing brand.

He added that alongside concentrating on the house of worship sector, the distributor will take a unique approach to myMix: ‘When we sell myMix we are not going to sell it as a professional tool but as a musical instrument. It has an internal recording system so that musicians can record their rehearsals and then train with the recordings. I think it will be helpful to focus on that. The functionality of myMix will make it successful.’

Soundus and myMix are already planning their first joint education seminar, prospectively scheduled for July. ‘It’s going to be a technical seminar about stage monitor management and it will be in participation with an educational organisation,’ concluded Mr Kim.
