South Melbourne sports bar refitted with JBL

AUSTRALIA: Pulse Audio Visual has supplied and installed a new audio system for The Fleece sports bar, which is located in South Melbourne. The new installation comprises JBL ceiling speakers alongside, Crown amplification and dbx processing. All of the Harman equipment was supplied by regional distributor Jands.
Described as ‘sensational’, the refurbishment of The Fleece has gifted the venue a main sports bar equipped with plasma screens, new lounge spaces and an upstairs rooftop deck and restaurant area, complete with its own fireplace. The venue is split into five separate audio zones including the bistro, the main bar and lounge, and three function areas. Wall-mounted DBX ZC-8 keypads located behind the bars are used to control the volume level and audio source in each zone, which can have its own audio source and volume level regardless of what is being heard elsewhere.
Pulse AV specified a combination of JBL Control24 and Control26 models for use throughout the venue, while weather-proof surface-mount Control25AV speakers have also been installed into the third function area. Compact 8124 ceiling speakers are used in the restrooms, corridors and the upstairs foyer area. Cabling for future subwoofers has also been incorporated into the design in the main bar and the first two function areas, both of which also boast audio connection points facilitating the use of CD players, laptops and iPods.
‘We specify this type of setup for most venues and everyone is always really happy with the sound quality and simple system operation,’ explained Pulse AV’s Adam Dullens. ‘The audio keypads behind the bars allow quick easy system adjustments by the staff without having to leave the room, so they can hear exactly what they are doing.’
