Sentosa Beach equipped with Apart Audio 12VDC compatible PA

SINGAPORE: Spectral AV Solutions Pte Ltd has equipped eight Lifeguard towers lining the popular Singaporean island resort of Sentosa Beach with Apart Audio public address systems. Following the installation of solar power systems for the towers three years ago, the resort management had struggled to source a sound system capable of running off the available 12VDC power they supply.

To test out solutions with the power available, a trial was conducted by Sennheiser Asia in 2013. The system installed needed to be capable of providing intelligible spoken word coverage at distances up to 100m, or at least until it intercepts with the next tower. Each tower is therefore equipped with two horn speakers, a mixer/amplifier and microphone.

Following the trial, and due to the plug-and-plug nature of the equipment, the installers proposed Apart Audio MA35 mixing amplifiers with MPLT32-G horn loudspeakers and MICPACB-D microphones.

Due to the system’s 12VDC power constraints – removing the option to install a standard 230V external CD player – Sennheiser’s GuidePort system has also been integrated to provide 16-key playback of pre-recorded announcements in four languages.

‘We experienced difficulty trying to find a suitable PA system that was operable with 12VDC via Solar Power,’ explained beach operations manager, Julian Ong. ‘The Apart MA-35 meets our requirement aptly. The sound intelligibility for all pre-recorded announcements is sufficiently audible in the open beach from tower to tower.’
