SSI supplies Sha Tin Racecourse with Fohhn Audio

CHINA: Following last year’s extensive PA upgrade at the Sha Tin Racecourse in Hong Kong, the ground’s 1,900m circumference track has recently been installed with a supplementary Fohhn Audio loudspeaker system.
Guangzhou-based Shoushan System Integration Ltd (SSI) was recently called upon by the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) to supply 29 Fohhn Audio Linea LX-100 line source loudspeakers into selected areas of the 85,000 capacity stadium. This new system is used for transmitting live race commentaries and announcements during race meetings, thus providing a high level of speech intelligibility as stipulated by the HKJC.
The mini line array speakers were installed ‘very easily’ by SSI and have so far found themselves to provide even coverage with no feedback. Based on Fohhn’s hybrid line array principle, each 400W-rated speaker combines eight 4-inch drivers with 1-inch compression drivers coupled onto a Fohhn waveguide system. Speaker adjustments are carried out via an integrated crossover, whilst an Intelligent Protection Circuit (IPC) guards against overload. Weighing just 7kg, the LX-100 speakers blend into the surroundings of the spectator and paddock areas, having been supplied in custom RAL finishes.
Last year, the HKJC contracted Advanced Communications Equipment (ACE) to install 14 JBL VerTec VT4887A line array clusters under the two grandstands, which are powered by Crown iTech 5000 HD and ITech 12000HD amplifiers. These simultaneously handle analogue and AES 50 signals, whilst dual BSS London Blu-120 and Blu-800 processors provide analogue, digital and CobraNet connections.
