SSR to open Singapore campus in 2013

SINGAPORE: SSR is set to open its fourth campus in Singapore in 2013. This joins the music and media training institution’s existing campuses in Indonesia, London and Manchester, whilst an SSR Thailand is also currently in development.

The announcement follows discussions with numerous Singaporean studios, businesses and government agencies, with courses provisionally set to commence in September 2013.
Initially offering Audio Engineering Techniques and Technology, Live Sound and Music Technology courses, SSR Singapore will provide a full complement of SSR’s music and media production courses by the following year.

‘We are delighted to have signed the contract for SSR Singapore, in a deal that is great news for SSR and also Manchester in general,’ enthused SSR principal Ian Hu. ‘Being half-Singaporean myself I have visited the region many times, and whenever I travel there I am in awe of the ultra-modern, dynamic city. We are convinced this latest SSR centre is going to be a great success and we can’t wait to export a bit of Mancunian style and musical history into Singapore.’

‘Hearing of the news that SSR is coming to Singapore is fantastic,’ concurred Graham Perkins, president, The Music Society Singapore (SGMUSO). ‘As we at SGMUSO work on programmes to help support the development of the Singapore music scene, enhancing recording and live techniques and skills will be crucial. After seeing the successes of SSR in Manchester, London and Jakarta, I have a good feeling about the presence of SSR Singapore and I look forward to working with the team in the future.’

Through SSR’s partnership with the UK’s University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), the company also hopes to offer UK degree courses in Singapore. The same partnership has seen SSR Jakarta being approved by UCLan to provide academic courses in Indonesia.
