Symetrix delivers Dante into Madame Tussauds Singapore

SINGAPORE: The recently opened Singaporean branch of world-renowned waxwork museum Madame Tussauds is now using Dante networking courtesy of a Symetrix audio processing and distribution infrastructure. The DSP backbone was supplied and installed by Electronics & Engineering Pte Ltd (E&E) as part of a comprehensive installation within the venue.
Located on Sentosa Island and already a popular destination, Madame Tussauds Singapore follows in the tradition of the original museum, which opened in London in the 19th century. Inside visitors can find lifelike recreations of the rich and famous, from actors and models to politicians and pop stars. E&E won the contract for installing the audio portion of the venue after winning an open tender from Sweett Group representing Merlin Entertainment. The final system – based on the original design of Thöne und Partner Germany – includes EAW loudspeakers, Shure microphones and Ashly Audio power amplifiers (more details will follow in Pro Audio Asia).
E&E senior account manager Freddie Soh worked on the project alongside Thöne und Partner general manager Benedikt Koch. ‘The primary requirement of the DSP installation was for traditional analogue audio distribution based on earlier projects,’ Mr Soh explained. ‘However, subsequent to that, E&E made the recommendation of a networkable audio distribution infrastructure underpinned by Dante. We knew that it would really add value to the project, and the client agreed to go ahead with the proposal.’ To deliver on the plan, two Symetrix SymNet Radius 12x8 DSPs were installed in the venue, plus four SymNet xIn 12 audio input expanders.
‘The introduction of Dante to this project really sets the museum up for the long-term future, so the originally specified SymNet Radius 12x8s with the add-on flexibility that Dante offers were a great choice,’ enthused Mr Koch. ‘The feedback from the completed installation has been excellent and the client is very happy.’
Hock Thang, regional sales manager, APAC for Symetrix, added, ‘the recent Singapore Sports Hub project illustrated how E&E is consistently making the most of SymNet’s Dante networking capabilities. Now they have done it again with this impressive installation at Madame Tussauds Singapore, where the Symetrix DSPs have helped to deliver a world-class audio infrastructure.’
