VIETNAM: Henry Saravanan, the founder and CEO of Singapore-based supplier Synergy AVL Pte Ltd, was recently awarded the Outstanding Young Entrepreneur Reward at the fourth ASEAN-China Young Entrepreneur Forum, which took place in Hanoi. Mr Saravanan was reportedly surprised by his win, having been unaware of it prior to being called to the ceremony’s stage.
Organised by the VYEA, the ASEAN-China Young Entrepreneur Forum is an annual event that sees ASEAN member states and China jointly nominate successful entrepreneurs within the Asian region. Nominees are put through strict scrutiny to see if they posses the required attributes to ultimately win the Reward, including having achieved outstanding success in their field whilst actively participating in social improvement. Business details such as total turnover, taxation, profit, staff strength and export turnover are all taken into account.
This year’s Forum was attended by approximately 400 invited guests including Government ministers and delegates from participating countries. At the beginning of the ceremony, Mr Saravanan was under the impression that he was only due to receive a token of appreciation for attending the forum as a delegate.
‘This is undoubtedly a great honour and accomplishment for Synergy AVL, my family, as well as me,’ Mr Saravanan later commented. ‘The nomination itself was a great honour but winning the award gives accreditation to all the hard work that we have invested over all these years. I am glad all our efforts are recognised by the business community.’
