INDIA: Tannoy’s point-source VQ series loudspeakers are being used by the 105-member strong Indian Territorial Army Band as it tours the country, playing both indoor and outdoor venues for audiences sometimes numbering more than ten thousand people. The Tannoy enclosures were selected by regional consultant Advance Acoustic Research.
Playing a diverse range of musical instruments and requiring a sound reinforcement system that was both flexible and simple to use, the band requested that Dehli-based Advance Acoustic Research investigate possible solutions. Following a period of assessment, the company’s principle consultant, Tikendra Singh, recommended the Tannoy speakers, which were supplied by Acoustic Arts Pvt Ltd.
The completed design comprises two VQ 60 and two VS 215HL enclosures plus four V12HP monitors. The rig is powered by two Lab.gruppen FP4000s plus an fP2600, with Biamp DSP. Yamaha mixing consoles are used at both front of house and monitors while Sennheiser microphones are used by the band.
Included among the band’s recent performances were several concerts at India Gate.
