The PA People install Harman and Shure into Skoda Stadium

AUSTRALIA: Working with local distributor Jands, The PA People recently installed JBL, Crown and Shure equipment into the 24,000 seat Skoda Stadium in the Sydney Showground’s main arena at Sydney Olympic Park.

Designed by Populous and funded by the NSW Government, Royal Agricultural Society and the AFL, the A$65 million stadium comprises two new grandstands built onto the existing infrastructure. The north west side grandstand also hosts new coach’s boxes, broadcast rooms and a large scoreboard.

The PA People installed public address systems for the grandstands, which were integrated into the existing systems in the areas. Each area was equipped with four main PA clusters comprising one JBL AM7315/95 three-way full-range loudspeaker, an AL7115 WRC sub and an AM7212 WRC rear-firing speaker – all of which employ weather protection treatment.

Meanwhile, PD5212/64WRC speakers and AM7315/95 boxes were used as end firing boxes to cover the ground and seating area around the scoreboard. Additionally, 78 JBL Control 29AV surface-mount speakers are now in use for under fills and for all concourse areas.

‘The JBL speakers perform well, especially coupled with the Crown MA5000i amplifiers,’ commented Josh Jones, The PA People’s project manager. ‘I’m very happy with the sound as I’m sure the client is.’

Meanwhile, Shure ULXP wireless microphone systems and PSM900 personal monitor systems were also selected for the stadium. ‘They are reliable,’ added Mr Jones. ‘We use them with the Shure PA705 directional antenna to accurately pick up anyone on the field.’
