Taking on JBL’s tour sound division meanwhile is Paul Bauman, who will lead product development for the VerTec line array range whilst overseeing the integration of JBL tour sound products with other brands within Harman.
Mr Bauman has worked for JBL for five years, previously holding the position of director for tour sound product and application engineering before taking over as senior manager of product development for tour sound in March 2011. A 27-year pro audio veteran with global touring experience, he will report to head of marketing Mark Gander.
‘It’s a very exciting time to be in the tour sound industry and recent developments demonstrate our commitment to providing a complete system solution for VerTec,’ Mr Bauman noted. ‘I am looking forward to helping grow JBL’s leadership position in the market.’
Finally, Scott Leslie has become director of engineering for JBL, reporting directly to Mark Ureda, vice president and general manager of the brand.

Mr Leslie is described as bringing an extensive background in acoustics and technology to the position, having held positions with companies including Fender, Altec Lansing, Tektronix and Sun Microsystems. Most recently, he served as CEO of Evidant Corporation, a software company that he founded.
‘I have always loved JBL for its history, technology, and especially the speakers,’ Mr Leslie commented. ‘I have known Mark Ureda since I graduated and joined Altec Lansing. With the team that Mark has put together, we have a tremendous opportunity to develop and bring to market the next generation of JBL.’
Mr Ureda responded that Mr Leslie ‘brings a wealth of technical expertise, creativity, energy and leadership’ to JBL. ‘I can think of no better individual than Scott to drive our tradition of excellence and take JBL to the next level of high performance loudspeaker technologies and designs.’
