Tom Lee Engineering to represent EM Acoustics in China

CHINA: UK-based loudspeaker manufacturer EM Acoustics has appointed Tom Lee Engineering as its new exclusive distributor for mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau. The agreement – described by EM Acoustics operations director Mike Wheeler as being a major contributor to ‘a complete and utter transformation’ of the company – was formally announced at the Pro Light & Sound Shanghai exhibition on October 11th.

The agreement follows almost two years of discussions between EM Acoustics and Tom Lee Engineering. It also represents the largest order yet of EM Acoustics products intended purely for demo stock, with the new distributor having taken delivery of a system that includes six X3 high-Q array enclosures plus flying gear and 12 MSE-118 Quake subwoofers as well as a selection of smaller products.

‘Tom Lee Engineering is a major player in the Asian market and the fact that we can work together means a lot to me,’ enthused EM Acoustics international sales manager Alex Schloesser. ‘We look forward to a long and prosperous relationship for both parties and I will support Tom Lee Engineering in every way I can in the quest to grow EM Acoustics in China, Hong Kong and Macau.’

Mr Schloesser added that he regards the relationship between the companies as ‘a positive affirmation of where EM Acoustics stands today,’ citing the launch the X3 array at the Frankfurt Pro Light + Sound exhibition earlier this year as a major factor in the distributor’s decision to work with the brand.

‘This is the biggest demonstration system purchase in the history of the company,’ continued Mike Wheeler. ‘It’s also our first traditional distributor in terms of a company that buys in volume and has a proper sub-dealer network. It marks the beginnings of big changes for us – we're raising to a whole new level.’
