VerTec adds extreme edge to Nitro Circus Live

AUSTRALIA: An Australian tour based on the popular MTV extreme sports show Nitro Circus recently used ground stacked JBL VerTec line array elements to accompany spectacular stunts. The loudspeakers were supplied by Australian Harman Professional distributor Jands.
Named Nitro Circus Live, the tour is based on the Travis Pastrana-hosted TV show and features sports stunts ranging from free-style motor cross and skateboarding to a wheelchair-bound performer leaping from a 50ft high Gigantor Ramp. The tour is organised by Global Action Sports, while sound design is by George Gorga, who created a custom soundtrack for the tour alongside designing the reinforcement system.
The final design comprised 10 VerTec ground stacks firing up into the grandstands, each including three 4889 VerTec elements and two JPS single 18-inch subs. Two further ground stacks of four 4888 enclosures and two JPS 18-inch subs completed the system.
‘With Nitro Circus we were able to build the show from scratch, trying to retain elements from the television show whilst creating an exciting live show,’ explained Mr Gorga. ‘You can get great level and coverage out of these clusters, especially outdoors. They’re also pretty hardy outdoors. I use this set up every year for the NRL Grand Final at ANZ Stadium and it just works really well. It’s a good sounding box and works well with this type of show where you have motor bikes and commentary on top of the soundtrack.’
The tour is continuing around the world, with the US next on the itinerary.
