Yamaha partners with Ngee Ann Polytechnic for ETC1 training

SINGAPORE: Hosted by Yamaha Music (Asia) Pte Ltd, Nexo recently conducted its ETC1 training seminar in Sinagpore as part of a collaboration between Yamaha and the Ngee Ann Polytechnic. The two-day workshop aims to enhance technical expertise around the key concepts in the design and implementation of professional audio systems. The session was conducted by Nexo’s engineering support manager, Nicolas Poitrenaud, who flew in from the manufacturer's headquarters in France. The training gained a large attendance, ranging from the students of four different Singapore educational institutions to experienced industry practitioners.
The content focussed on real-life applications to help attendees grasp complex audio concepts, with several Nexo speaker systems and Yamaha control equipment set up in the Polytechnic’s auditorium. Students also reportedly had the chance to analyse professional tools in a hands-on environment, while one of the highlights of the event was the training in Nexo’s NS-1 simulation software, which for many attendees was reportedly the first introduction to system configuration and design software. Mr Poitrenaud encouraged them to examine their own designs using the NS-1 tool, graphically illustrating the fundamental differences between point-source and line-source loudspeakers.
‘The collaboration has helped us to execute programmes that cater for students as well as lecturers,’ explained Yamaha’s Lawrence Tan. ‘Education plays an integral role in the development of the industry, and we are committed to boosting the calibre of Singapore’s technical expertise and nurturing future talents.’
